How to make beautiful paper flowers

Today I thought I would share how to make paper flowers. They are so pretty and fairly easy to make once you get going. I find they look as good as shop bought ones and to be honest ...are far sturdier and so once added to a project are less likely to get squashed. So here is a picture tutorial and then further down I will add YouTube links to other flowers I have made in another method. None of these are my invention but I learnt how to make these way before joining Stampin' Up! and I just love to make them.

So firstly select any flower punch or dies you have. This one has six petals and I do find even numbers make the best flowers but in theory any should work. This flower is around 1 3/4" in diameter. Punch out the centre, I used a 3/4" hole punch. Do this to five flowers.

Then you take your flowers and cut away as shown in the photo. So start with  full flower then each time cut away petals in order 1 then 2 then three until you have a collection as above.
Next take a 1" punch and punch a circle, this will go beneath your first flower petal layer to make it tidy and so you have a fairly flat surface to adhere your flower to your project.
Then using a bone folder or any curve each petal. The first layer is your full flower, adhere this with your glue of choice on top of the 1" circle. Then with the other flowers firstly join each layer in a circle, then layer each circle in order onto the first full layer. Make sure the petals alternate... i.e. that each layer is placed so the petals are in the gaps of the previous layer. On the final singular petal simply roll this and glue into a bud form, you may way want to cut this petal down slightly at the base. Don't be afraid to crumple the floor to make it adhere. Just ensure the tips of each petal aren't glued flat. You can even scrunch up the entire flower it merely adds to the look. Once the flowers are dry tweeze each petal and lift it up ... use a pokey tool or thin end of a paint brush ... or fluff them with your fingers. If you have time curve the ends of each petal again ... it really is good to take time as it looks better. Then taking a sponge and a nice subtle in gently ink the edges and voila you are done.

I do have several tutorials on YouTube using different methods and different flower dies/ punches if you want to take a look at another way of doing them.

So grab a brew get comfy and lets make some flowers .... xxx Amanda
