DIY envelope file recipe holder

I just LOVE projects which are a tiny bit thrifty so using cheap envelopes to create a file folder is right up my street. I first saw this method using recycles envelopes from junk mail .... which is a great way to be thrifty or Scrimpy .... on this occasion I used new ones, but they were already in my stash and very inexpensive. Before we start I must assert all measurements are to go with 4 x 6" envelopes.. but you can easily adapt to fit any you have to hand.

With Mothers day on the horizon I thought turning this file holder into a recipe card file was a great idea. You can also turn it into a birthday file folder by adding an envelope for each month of the year, or for bible study or prayer cards ...or even as a small mini album .. the possibilities really are endless.

So the file folder is made easy by gluing envelopes together which have n=been sealed and had a sliver trimmed off for an opening. We created a cover and tabed file cards with days of the week on each one. Decorated in a real fun way using the Apron of love bundle. An amazing set , the thinlets really are fun to play with. The teeny tiny elements in this 17 piece thinlits set can help you build fantastic scenes for cards or ... recipe file folders such as this.
I do have a set by step Youtube tutorial for you to follow and all measurements and products used are listed bellow. So why not go that extra mile and create something fantastic with this amazing bundle. So go grab a brew , get comfy and enjoy the video.

Happy stamping xxx Amanda
Measurements:-
cover :- 6 3/4 x 12" score at 4 1/4, 51/4 and 10 1/4 and 11 1/4" .... between the 4 1/4 and 5 1/4" mark score every 8th" to give a concertina roll effect to the card. At the 10 1/4" to 11 1/4" do the same ... at the 11 1/4"  part add on another piece of card stock measuring 6 3/4 x 4" to extend flap.
DSP layers on cover:- Front 3 3/4 x 6 1/2", lower front 4 x 6 1/2", Back 4 3/4 x 6 1/2"
File cards :- 4 7/8 x 6 1/4" ... these are to fit the envelopes I had you can adjust sizes to fit any . Tab needs to be punched on the evpb a 1 3/4" I then score from the bottom of the card unto the tab at
4 5/ 16" up to the 4 1/2" mark on my trimmer arm I then snipped to neaten from the tab to the joining line. This step ensures the card lays below the envelope line.
File card matting:- cut card 4 x 6"
Closure :- punch hole at 3 3/8" this is the centre point of your front flap. I used a cropodile and added an eyelet.. an alternative is to add ribbon on the back both merge and from flap bottom edge before adding DSP so you can tie it shut.
I printed my days of the week onto whisper white card then punched out with the window punch . i used size 12 font. This was in replace of a days stamp which I do not have.
