Faux glassine bags .. how to

When it comes to being Scrimpy I get totally excited. I just LOVE saving money and this project helps you save and be more creative at the same time.

So we all love glassine bags but they can end up on the pricey side and crafters can be known to use them sparingly. However, one of my fab crafty friends Kay shared wth me how she found to make faux glassine bags using baking paper. Such a great and cheaper way to create these pretty bags so I had to have a go.

You can easily glue these bags together in no time AND you can stamp on them too. I just advise giving plenty of time for ink to dry ...but it does work. I used the Stampin' Up! sheet music stamp and smokey slate ink.

I didn't stick to any specific measurements as such but simply used enough paper to create a bag for a card with a few inch top and bottom extra to food over. The bottom was glued and the top I used pinking shears then simply folded closed.

the fun part was in decorating the bag and the possibilities really are endless. I used pretty doilies and paper offcuts followed by a triple bow. i further decorated my bow with a tiny felt bow and glittered enamel dot ...all from Stampin' Up! I held them all to the bag using a gold library clip. Thinking here is that the recipient can take off the clip and re use the doilies etc.

There is a full step by step tutorial for this project over on my Youtube channel you can find me via this link :- https://www.youtube.com/user/Scrimpingmommy/featured
