Global Design Project 081 colour challenge

Todays project is for the Global design project colour challenge. We were given three options to use , Navy, Whisper white and one colour of our choice. Now I love working with a limited colour palette, I just find it simpler. I knew I wanted to pick a bold colour and so I opted for my favourite named colour ...Flirrrrrty Flamingo. What an awesome name I just love it !

I like the effect I achieved here as its a bit like a zebra ..which came first the black or the white ? And here its hard to see is it white laid on Navy or navy laid on white ... ? I shall tell you.... I used the beautiful floral arch stamp from the Swan lake stamp set and carefully stamped my desired layout on Whisper white using Night of navy ink. I then coloured it in with Flirty flamingo marker pen. This was then vary carefully cut out in two separate pieces. One tip when fussy cutting is to edge your delicate cuts with a marker pen the same colour of ink used to stamp, this then eradicates the white line around and on the edge of the card giving a cleaner finish. Thus, when I glued the pieces to the navy card its hard to see which bit is the cut out. I did gently blend Flirty flamingo ink onto the white background between the stamped images to give a softer look. Phew my fingers ached after but so worth it.

Then I used layering ovals for my centre and decided to off set it at an angle ... just to be different really. I stamped from the dragonfly dreams set in Flirty flaming onto white card stock and then cut it out with the Detailed dragonfly die choosing the one which just cuts out the stamp. I also used the very detailed dragonfly die on night of navy and carefully layered these using Tombow. After assembling the centre ovals with glue this and the card base of Flirty flamingo were raised on dimensionals to a whisper white folded card base. Finished with a non fussy Thank you stamp, again from Swan lake. The finished size of the card is 6 1/2 x 4 3/4".

Wow a lot of detail feels like writing up a science experiment at school. But as there is no video for this card I wanted to give you as much detail as possible so you can try it for yourself . I aim to join along with the Global design project every week so please do stop by my blog every Tuesday to see what I come up with ....awesome fun I do hope you will give it a try .

                                                        Happy stamping xxxx Amanda
