Free floating dragon fly anyone ?

Firstly happy Valentines day to you all sending you great big squishes. Today I thought lets break the cycle of Valentines smooch.... not jealous..... with a totally non valentines card.

This card was actually made a few weeks ago and have been waiting to write about it. I wanted to do a tutorial on Youtube but feared it would take so long the audience would expire of pure boredom, so I shall share it here bore you with the written word instead.

I honestly adore this card.  Its a very simple easel card with a peep hole not groundbreaking, but the dragon flies just make it special. I used detailed dragonfly thinlits form Stampin' Up! and cut two small dragonflies from the chain of five. These were embossed with a mix of copper embossing powder and dazzling diamonds fine glitter Taking a fine thread, the palest colour in my stash, it carefully glued in between a sandwich of the dragonflies. Takes a bit of care but the finished effect is worth it  You carefully attach the threads either side of your peep hole between the layer of DSP and card stock, lining it up so the cut out holes are all aligned . And ta dahhhh floating dragonfly. You can of course do this with any shape. I chose Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla card stock along with the stunning Falling in love DSP and embellishments.

I used more die cuts from the set to decorate the card and the largest one was used as the prop to hold up the earl part. Its really quite an easy design and I just adore mixing and messing with custom embossing powder. I usually do 1 part glitter to two parts embossing powder. It gives a chunky texture and also a fantastic shimmer so it is well worth having a play.

I shall leave you to ponder the wonder of the mystical floating dragonfly perhaps you will be tempted to give it try for yourself. Card measurements are below and if there are any items used you would like to purchase my shop link is located to the right >>>>>

I would just like to thank everyone who has supported my blog over the last week. I have put cheeky calls out to help me build my viewer figure and as always you guys have rallied round and supported me. Crafters really are the kindest people and make the greatest friends....

much love and HAPPY STAMPING x Amanda
